"Most Awesome Card Discovered Today"

I'm starting a new thing, called "Most Awesome Card Discovered Today".

(That's its unpolished working name obviously)

I'm always checking out different blogs and bookmarking my favourite cards so why not share them here for all to see?

The key word in the working title is "discovered", which means that it doesn't have to have been made today, just happened to have been found by myself today.

For example, today's card was made by miss Monica K. back in April and I happened upon it while trawling her previous blog entries this morning. It's such an awesome card for a four year old boy, I though I would share.

First Project Publication

Exciting things have been happening lately. For instance, my first group of cards were accepted for inclusion in 'Cardmaking Stamping and Papercraft' magazine!

And, (can you believe it) this issue was also my first cover!
Yep that's me up in the top right corner:

For the first time Papertrey Ink stamps have been included in an Australian magazine. I used the wonderful 'Bloom' set, a favourite of mine. You will have to turn to page 38 to see the full set of cards, or after the mag's on-sale date, I will of course share them here.

Baby Card

Pretty, yes?
I didn't need a baby card. Just made one cause its pretty.

Unrelated humorous story:
Was at MacDonalds the other day, sanding at the register with two teen girls at the next register over. One girl says to the other: "yeah i heard it was the ice in coke that makes you fat"...

PTI Emboss Resist Entry

This card incorporates emboss resist through the snowflakes behind the flowers and the creation of the green layer by using only ink and clear embossing powder. Even the flowers have been embossed with polka dots before inked with distress inks. I think this was such a wonderful challenge and was so blown away by what some of the other ladies have made. xx Alyssa B

Is quite possibly my new favorite colour!

I made this cute card pack as a gift for a friend. I made each card with a sentiment that could easily apply to anything- birthdays, thank-yous whichever. The process used is similar to this post by Jessica Witty if you were interested to see her version. xx Alyssa

PTI Birthday Bash

Lovin these new PTI challenges. This is definitely my favorite of the digi stamps the new (and old) PTI have created. This one came from the lovely Niki Estes. I printed it on both purple and white card stock to create the layered effect. The card base is actually clear cardstock- it may be a bit hard to tell. I really like this card and will be entering it in the PTI competition. xx Alyssa 

Symmetricality

I dont know what it is, but I like things to be symmetrical. Always have, even as a little kid I would always line my pencils up in a straight row. Symericality is what I love so much about these note cards. e sentiment on the inside is curved, i've never tried that before but its fun and different and I plan to do it more often.

Snowflake Tutorial

I had some people ask how to make the variation in the snowflakes seen on the card below and I thought I'll make a little tutorial, just for fun on the blog-o. So here it is:
Step 1: Ink stamp in the lightest colour, here Old Olive by S'UP! is used
Step 2: Grab a 'stamp'n write'maker or any water based marker and use the side of the brush tip to colour at random (Hansome Hunter used here) Step 3: Dont try to be too careful with your colouring, there's no need. This is what the finished 'coloured' stamp should look like:
Note: You may need to 'huff' briefly, just too remoisten the ink before stamping
Step 4: Stamp as normal
This is what you it should look like: Step 6: This is an optional step, when the ink is still fresh, use a water brush pen to blend the ink, creating a watercolour effect. That's it!
Here's an example of a finished card:Really, this technique is so easy! You only need an ink pad and a darker ink pen, one gemstone, half a piece of cardstock to make a wonderful clean and simple card this chrismas season!
